Daniel Latorre

Hammond Organ

Daniel Latorre, hailing from São Paulo, is a distinguished Hammond organ player and specialist in Brazil. With a background in piano, he has honed his skills in jazz, blues, and rock on the B3 organ. His expertise was shaped by lessons from notable North American organists, including Deacon Jones (who led bands for John Lee Hooker and Freddie King, and studied under Jimmy Smith) and Reuben Wilson. Over his illustrious career, Daniel has shared the stage with a range of international artists such as Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Andy Summers (The Police), and Rob Mostert (Dutch organist), as well as leading Brazilian musicians and bands including Caetano Veloso, Lobão, Edgar Scandurra, Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Rita Lee (of Os Mutantes), Ed Motta, and Jota Quest. He also collaborated with Andreas Kisser of Sepultura on his solo project, Brazil Rock Stars (2000-2008).

From 2004 to 2014, Daniel developed and oversaw the creation of his own signature rotary speaker, the Latorre MVTA, a replica of the famous Leslie 122, produced by the Meteoro amplifier company. In 2009, he founded Hammond

Grooves, a band that has performed extensively in Brazil and across Europe, including Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Poland. The band has completed three successful national tours in recent years and released their album Funktastic in 2016, featuring guest appearances from artists such as Ronnie Cubber and John Pizzarelli, alongside a host of prominent Brazilian musicians. As lead organist started in 2023 Latorre- Krzeminski-Skolik The Special trio with finest polish jazz artists and his own project DLO.

In addition to his performance career, Daniel is a skilled professional in restoring original Hammond organs. He has dedicated 20 years to mastering this craft under the tutelage of Mr. Warwick Kerr Jr., a renowned certified Hammond Co. technician.
